INFECTION (1985-1989, reunion gig 1990)

Infection were one of Delaware's first hardcore bands. Hailing from Wilmington, Delaware, the lineup featured Sean Pierce (guitar), Victor George (vocals), Steve “Slammo” McCaughan (bass), and Chuck Mikity (drums)--all between 14 and 16 years old at the time. The band's early inspirations included G.B.H., Agnostic Front, the Ramones, and D.R.I.

Everything changed for the band in June, 1987 after seeing the Cro-Mags just over the state line in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. According to guitar player Sean, watching the set "nudged Infection and our whole crew into a dark and violent chapter in the scene." Infection put out a few demo tapes and self-released the Our Pledge 7" and Legal Limit LP. Their recordings were produced by Wayne Romanowski of All The Rage skate zine.

Band address: 2105 Prior Road, Wilmington, DE 19809

Final lineup: Sean Pierce, Steve McCaughan, Scott Malone, Dennis Schofield, Rob Grodzicki

Past members: Chuck Mikity
